Monolithic Power Systems, Inc.

From ReportWarehouse, the free investment-report repository

Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. is a fabless global semiconductor company that designs and develops high-performance, semiconductor-based power electronics solutions for six end markets: storage and computing, enterprise data, automotive, communications, consumer, and industrial. Founded in 1997 by CEO Michael Hsing and public since 2004, MPS has posted fourteen consecutive years of revenue growth, culminating in $2.79 billion of revenue in fiscal 2025 — a 26.4% increase over the prior year that was achieved despite a modest decline in its then-largest end market, enterprise data.

This is a story about a company whose technology advantage in power density and monolithic integration has made it an essential supplier to the AI infrastructure build-out, but whose investment case turns on whether that AI-driven demand is a durable secular shift or a cycle in disguise. MPS trades at roughly 101 times trailing net income and 23 times trailing revenue — multiples that embed expectations of sustained hyper-growth. The central question is whether the business can broaden its growth drivers and improve its margins faster than any normalization in AI spending compresses its valuation.

The stock carries the full premium of an AI winner and the full risk of a company that generates 92% of its revenue from Asia, operates with a founder-CEO in his 66th year, and is navigating a restatement, a material weakness in internal controls, and an active CFO transition — all while competing against some of the largest semiconductor companies in the world. Making an informed judgment means understanding what exactly MPS sells, why customers buy it, and what happens if the AI spending tide goes out.
