WEC Energy Group, Inc.

From ReportWarehouse, the free investment-report repository

WEC Energy Group, Inc. is an American diversified electric and natural gas utility holding company serving approximately 4.7 million customers across Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota, generating $9.80 billion in revenue in fiscal 2025. The company operates through eight principal utility subsidiaries — anchored by Wisconsin Electric Power (We Energies) and Wisconsin Public Service in its home state, and Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas in Illinois — plus a non-utility energy infrastructure segment that owns renewable generation assets.

This is a story about a staid regulated utility that has found itself at the center of one of the largest private-sector infrastructure build-outs in the United States. Microsoft and a consortium led by Vantage Data Centers (serving Oracle and OpenAI's Stargate initiative) are together contracting for up to 3.9 gigawatts of electric demand across southeastern Wisconsin through 2030, with the potential for that number to double based on available acreage alone. The capital required to serve this load has swollen WEC's five-year investment plan to $37.5 billion — roughly three times the company's current rate base — and management is guiding to 7–8% annual EPS growth off a $5.27 adjusted base in 2025, accelerating to the upper half of that range starting in 2028. The file turns on a single question: whether the regulatory compact that makes a utility investible can hold together when the scale and pace of investment are this far beyond historical precedent.
